Self-catering apartments from single apartments in various areas to luxury canal apartments in the beautiful centre of Amsterdam are available. They have a private entrance and fully equipped kitchen.



Bed And Breakfast
This became popular due to a shortage of hotel rooms and has become a form of Amsterdam accommodations now. Landlords rent out apartments as bed and breakfast.

But they are so in name only since Amsterdam has many cafes and breakfast bars. They are called holiday apartments.
Family Accommodations
For your family with children the best accommodations are around the greatest amusement park in Amsterdam - the Vondelpark away from the sleazier areas. The park offers great entertainment for the kids.

The Shelter is one such Christian hostel divided in two parts, called Jordan and City. The City is in the red light area and the Jordan is in an older area. It offers dormitory like accommodation.

The Vondelpark Stayokay Youth hostel in the heart of the city has an international backpackers’ environment. It makes a great location for visiting other sites. Clean, safe and friendly it has multiple bedrooms.

Houseboats
Staying in houseboats is a unique experience in Amsterdam. Houseboats built for housing and those converted from vessels are rented out for a week.

Some are tied to the bank and some are parked on the canals in the city centre.


A central location should not be the main factor in selecting suitable Amsterdam accommodations, since the city is not so big and has excellent public transport. However, Schiphol is a good jumping off point for further travel.
